Tyre Nichols Death: Memphis Police Beat Man Like ‘Human Piñata’- Video Viral On Twitter

After a video emerged showing Memphis Police beating Tyre Nichols like a human pinata, the shocking death of Tyre Nichols shook the entire internet.

Following an investigation, it was discovered that five Police officers had broken several departmental rules during the stop, including those governing the use of force.

Attorneys for Tyre Nichols’ family claimed Monday that they had seen the video of the Police encounter that occurred days before Nichols died. They claimed that the man had been subjected to an unadulterated, blatant, nonstop beating reminiscent of the brutality Rodney King experienced at the hands of the Police.

After being stopped by Police on January 7 in Memphis, Tennessee, Nichols, 29, was taken to the hospital and passed away three days later.

Tyre Nichols Death: What Happened To Him?

Nichols, a resident of Memphis, was hospitalized following two violent confrontations with Police on January 7 that resulted in his death on January 10. Authorities stated that the cause of death has not yet been established.

Police claim that, around 8:30 pm, Nichols was stopped for driving recklessly.

According to the Police, a confrontation took place, and as officers drew near the car’s driver, the suspect fled the scene on foot. After yet another altercation, officers attempted to arrest Nichols.

As per the Police, Nichols complained of having trouble breathing, and an ambulance was dispatched. After being transported to the hospital, Nichols’s condition was considered critical. Police have not described what transpired in either altercation.

The video of Memphis Police beating Nichols like a human pinata went viral all over Twitter.

After the Memphis Police Department completes its internal investigation, the city of Memphis said on Tuesday that it would make video evidence of Nichols’ death available.

The video was made public following the conclusion of the internal investigation into the officers’ behavior and after the family of Mr. Nichols had a chance to view it privately, Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland and Memphis Police Chief CJ Davis said in a joint statement.

Following the incident, the Police department and city opened an internal investigation, and the officers involved in the traffic stop were put on administrative leave. Memphis city officials announced the officers would be subject to administrative action on Sunday.

Family And Friends Come Together To Protest

On Saturday, protesters, family members, and friends gathered before a Police station to demand that the officers responsible for Nichols’ death be held accountable. 

During the daytime demonstration, a balloon was released. Nichols was a very affectionate child, according to his stepfather Rodney Wells.

Friends and family remembered Nichols as someone who would brighten the room at a memorial service on Tuesday. Tyre’s longtime friend Angelina Paxton referred to his passing as a “dark way” for someone with that much light. She continued by saying that she didn’t think she could forgive the officers, so all she could say was that she hoped God would.

Five of the officers involved in the traffic stop were terminated on Friday after an administrative investigation revealed they had broken departmental rules.
