Alaina Dildine ***** Cause & Obituary has been a topic of interest for netizens. On Tuesday morning, Alaina, 15, drowned at the Whiteland Community High School pool.
On Wednesday, a tiny tribute with flowers, pictures, plushies, and chalk art was placed outside the high school’s music room doors. Outside the natatorium, flowers were also planted.
WCHS classes were postponed on Wednesday and resumed on Thursday. Counselors are available to assist students and faculty who require crisis and grief management assistance.
The pool will be closed for the remainder of the school year.
The Johnson County Coroner’s Office published Dildine’s identity Wednesday evening with consent from her family.
A medical examination was finished, but the coroner still awaits toxicology findings, which might take up to three weeks.
During a news conference Wednesday afternoon, Clark-Pleasant Superintendent Patrick Spray provided further facts regarding the incident at the high school.
He stated that Dildine died of drowning during physical education class in the pool area around 11:45 am.
She was swimming laps with other pupils during class when she disappeared near the bulkhead separating the pool from the diving end.
Spray stated that there was a lifeguard and a teacher on the pool deck at the time of the occurrence.
Spray declined to answer additional questions about what transpired in the pool area on Tuesday since the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the matter.
He had no idea how long she had been down or what had led her to go under near the bulkhead.
Johnson County Sheriff Duane Burgess stated that his agency took over the investigation after school administration and Police agreed that this was the best way forward.

Having an outside agency investigate a ***** of this nature will ensure complete transparency in the case and allow the Sheriff’s Office’s total resources to be committed to the investigation,” Burgess said.
“We’ve begun this process by assigning multiple detectives and meeting with school officials to transfer all information and evidence to our agency.”
Our detectives were present during the autopsy and are now obtaining further information. Burgess stated that the inquiry is ongoing and that all tips are being investigated.
“We are aware of the rumors, theories, and false information being spread on social media,” he stated. “Every tip or piece of information we receive will be thoroughly investigated, but this takes time.”

According to Spray, Clark-Pleasant’s current goal is to focus on the needs of Dildine’s family, the school employees, and the kids.
“We mourn with this family as they go through the unimaginable.” “Our entire school community, especially our faculty, and students, is devastated,” Spray added.
“This young lady was such a lovely person who adored her family, friends, community, art, animals, and band.”
