On 1st July 2018, Alesha was put to sleep in her bedroom at her grandparents’ seafront house three days into her summer stay.

According to the family, the little child was sound asleep by 23:00. The same evening, Campbell invited 15 friends to his home, where he became drunk.

The party ended before midnight, but on 2 July at 00:30, a companion came back and discovered Campbell in bed and acting suicidally.

Aaron stated on the court that he was upset at his mother and headed to get stoned.

The culprit always used to buy cannabis from Alesha’s father, Robert, and on July 2, when Robert didn’t pick up the call, Aaron decided to go to this house and steal cannabis.

Upon finding the little girl asleep, Campbell carried her up to a strange hotel, then brutally raped and strangled her by pressuring her face and neck. 

The deceased was reported missing at 06:23 GMT, and a member of the public found her dead body at 08:54 GMT.

Aaron Thomas Campbell was born on May 7th, 2002, in Shrewsbury, Shropshire.

When the rapist was four or five years old, he relocated to the Isle of Bute with his father Christopher, his mother, Janette, and a younger sister.

Aaron was subjected to some bodily and psychological abuse as a child, and his mother was an alcoholic. He had a history of depression and self-harming and had undergone testing for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

Aaron Campbell’s parents were heartbroken and devasted when they found out their son raping and killing a young girl.

Although little is known about his parents’ professional background, he grew up in a messed-up household deprived of love.

Campbell’s mother, Janette mentioned that her heart dropped she witnessed her son leave their house on the night Alesha died.

“I never imagined in my entire life that I would ever go visit anyone in jail, let alone my own son,” she added.
