Alex Silvagni, born on September 29, 1987 is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Fremantle Football Club and the Carlton Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL).

He was drafted by Fremantle in the 2010 rookie draft. He played 53 games for Fremantle from 2010 to 2016 before being released by the club.

Later, he was then drafted by Carlton in the 2017 rookie draft and played seven games for the club in 2017 before retiring at the end of the 2018 season due to persistent injuries.

In addition to his football career, Alex Silvagni is also a participant in the reality TV show The Summit Australia, Season one.

Moreover, Alex is described to be the type of player who knows what it takes to win and has a very competitive spirit, which describes his success as a former footballer.

Alex Silvagni Parents: Father Eric And Mother

Alex’s father’s name is Eric Silvagni, but his mother is Anglo-Indian, but her name is not known.

Further, there are no specific details regarding his mother or father. The former player has not disclosed any information regarding his parents.

However, it is worth mentioning that Alex’s father, Eric is the first cousin of  Sergio Silvagni, who is a Carlton legend, who played in the Victorian Football League (VFL), and was a dual premiership player.

Since Alex has shared little to no detail on his mother and father, it seems like the Australian likes to keep a low profile regarding his personal and family life.

Despite the lack of no information, it is clear that Silvagni’s parents are a major motivating factor in his life, always supporting their son’s career and have been a significant part of his success as a player.

Alex Silvagni AFL Career

Silvagni participated in the Victorian state screening session before the 2006 AFL Draft, unfortunately, no teams chose him.

However, in 2009 Alex moved to western Australia to train with Fremantle Football Club, who later drafted him in the 2010 Rookie Draft as the 24th overall.

He made his debut for Fremantle in the opening round of the 2010 AFL season and performed well, taking 7 marks and gathering 14 possessions, including an impressive 55-meter goal as Fremantle recorded a 56-point victory over the Adelaide Football Club.

Then again, in 2016, Fremantle Football Club delisted Silvagni, but he was signed by Carlton in the 2017 Rookie Draft.

The former player had a widely-recognized best-on-ground performance on his Carlton debut in Round 6, 2017, against the Sydney Swans, where he lined up as the direct opponent to the season’s Coleman medallist Lance Franklin and kept him to only one goal.

But, he only got a chance to play seven games in 2017, and despite playing only seven games for the club, Silvagni was elevated to the club’s leadership group in 2018.

However, due to constant injuries which prevented him from playing at all during the 2018 season. And finally, at the end of the season, in 2018, he retired, ending his brief but eventful career with the Carlton Football Club.
