Amber had a bright future ahead of her. But on January 13, 1996, everything changed.

Amber was riding her bike in a Winn-Dixie grocery store parking lot. The store was abandoned. A man who no one knew took Amber from the parking lot.

The Amber Alert system, designed to enhance safety, was created in response to the kidnapping and murder of a child named Amber Hagerman in Arlington, TX.

While riding her bike with her little brother, she was taken and later found dead four days later. Unfortunately, the perpetrator has not been apprehended as of now.

Also, the autopsy showed Amber died from bad cuts on her neck. The cuts were probably from a knife or other sharp object.

Amber also had some bruises and other injuries on her body. Amber had no clothes on except one sock on her left foot.

No one ever found the clothes she was wearing. She had on a “Camp Heart” t-shirt, pink pants, and brown shoes.

From the autopsy, police could tell Amber was alive for two days after she was taken. Then she was killed and left in the creek. So the police believe someone must have seen something important.

The police looked into some possible suspects. This was because of the information they had. But no new information ever came to light.

No one was found to have killed Amber. So the search had to end without answering that question.
