In addition, his profile stated that he worked as the “Operations Manager” for Sandhu Cargo Transport and had experience in the shipping, trucking, and railroad industries.

He spent almost ten years working as a dispatcher, according to The Indian Express.

Amritpal Singh Early Controversy

In one of his presentations in October 2022, Amritpal questioned, “If Jesus couldn’t save himself, how will he save everyone else?” which some of the Christian community labeled as hate speech.

At PAP Chowk, the Christian community protested Amritpal’s comments regarding Jesus Christ for four hours.

The demonstrators urged filing an FIR under section 295A of the IPC against him for “hurting religious sentiments and attempting to aggravate communal divisions.”

Amritpal’s Twitter account was blocked in India on October 7 due to his comments and pro-Khalistani posts.

The Punjab state administration was also told to keep an eye on his activities by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

On February 25, 2023, Amritpal’s Instagram account was suspended in addition to his Facebook account. Six policemen were hurt after a fight between Amritpal supporters and the Police as a reprisal.

Amritpal wed Kirandeep Kaur, a Jalandhar district native who formerly resided in the UK, on February 10, 2023.

Amritpal asserted it was a case of “reverse migration” and a call for Punjabis to settle back in Punjab. She has been a resident of Jallupur Khera since March 2023.

Sikhs from abroad opposed the government’s treatment of Amritpal.

Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi, a British Sikh Labour MP, criticized the acts of the administration. The scenario also prompted concern from Canadian Sikh MPs.

Jagmeet Singh, a politician from Canada, encouraged the government to express concerns about the suspension of civil freedoms to their Indian counterparts.

Several Canadian lawmakers who voiced concern about the state of affairs in Punjab received threatening remarks on social media.
