A woman from Chenango County is charged with stealing more than $155,000 from her employer over a minimum of five years.
Sheriff Ernest Cutting reports that deputies from the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office detained a Town of New Berlin resident on Tuesday in connection with an embezzlement case at a Town of Columbus business.
Deputies arrested Amy L. Grant of New Berlin after looking into the theft from the Golden Artist Colors.
The Chenango County Chamber of Commerce and the Council of the Arts presented the company with the 1991 Business Arts Award, among other honors. The United States Small Business Administration named Mark Golden its Small Business Person of the Year for 1996.
Is Amy Grant Arrested?
Amy L. Grant, 43, of New Berlin, was arrested on December 18, 2019, due to a Chenango County Sheriff’s Office investigation.
According to investigators, Grant allegedly embezzled money from the Company where she worked in the Town of Columbus. The sheriff’s office first declined to name the Company. However, the Company’s name was later revealed as Golden Artist Colors.
Golden Artist Colors, also known as Golden, is a U.S. manufacturer that specializes in paints used in fine art, crafts, and home décor. The company, which has its headquarters in New Berlin, New York, creates a line of acrylic paints that includes some replicas of vintage pigments.

Grant was accused of first-degree fraud, second-degree grand larceny, and first-degree falsifying business records, all felonies. She was supposed to show up in court later.

According to Lt. Joshua Gould, the investigators found inconsistencies in the business’s books.
Amy Grant Charges: Did She Go To Jail?
Grant, whose booking photo was withheld, was accused of class C felony grand larceny in the second-degree, class E felony first-degree scheme to defraud, and class E felony first-degree falsifying business records.
She was due to appear in Columbus Town Court later, but according to Gould, the case might be moved to Chenango County Court.
