She also received several international honors, including Best Actress at the Havana Film Festival for Mi Querido Tom Mix and the Diosa de Plata from the Mexican Film Journalists for Escrito en el cuerpo de la noche.

Murguía’s most famous role was that of Mamá Coco, the great-grandmother of Miguel Rivera, the protagonist of Coco.
