The victims of a deadly hit-and-run on New Year’s Day in Montreal have been identified as a Namibian guy going home from church and another man going to a friend’s party.

Antoine Dubuc Accident news has devastated every person in Namibia. According to court records, Augustin Wesley Katimba, 30, and Michael Chintakis, 31, are the victims.

The 23-year-old Antoine Dubuc is being prosecuted on six counts, including driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of an accident, and reckless driving resulting in death.

The suspect allegedly struck the two people at a high speed before escaping the scene, first in his car and then on foot, according to Montreal police.

Dubuc was supposed to appear in court on Wednesday, but it was postponed. He will now appear on Monday.

In a Facebook post, Namibia’s ambassador to the US identified Katimba as a person of Namibian descent and stated that he was on his way home from church when he was hit in the Ahuntsic-Cartierville suburb of Montreal just after one in the morning on Monday.

Additionally accredited to represent the nation in Canada, Ambassador Margaret Mensah-Williams noted that Katimba had just celebrated his birthday on December 31.

He was only a short distance from home when he was killed. Grief was expressed by friends and family in Namibia following his passing.

Tributes To The Deceased Ones

Friends of Chintakis in Montreal expressed grief over his untimely passing. He had just messaged to ask for the code to enter his building and was walking to a party at his friend Spiros Ilias’s house.

Twenty minutes later, Ilias claimed he tried to phone Chintakis but received no answer.

After hearing from a buddy who had just departed, Ilias walked outside and discovered Chintakis’s jacket hidden beneath an orange police sheet. Two dead were discovered in the street.

In an interview on Wednesday, Ilias declared, “It’s a complete tragedy.” He characterized his friend as a passionate, motivating light who brightened any space.

Since third grade, the two had been acquainted. On January 14, Chintakis would have turned thirty-two years old.

Casey Fragoulis, a different close friend, remarked that Chintakis had a huge heart.

Fragoulis stated that he loved everyone, despite their flaws and imperfections, he saw the good in everybody.

He doesn’t think he has ever heard him talk badly about anyone; as soon as he entered a room, you felt instantly safe.

Fighting back tears, Fragoulis said, “I know how I feel like I have a piece of him, and that’s what gives me comfort.” “I have a piece of him, and he loved that dog so much.”

To assist in paying for his funeral and provide a space to remember him, Ilias and his friends have started a GoFundMe.
