Anton Walkes, a 25-year-old English footballer, died on Thursday, according to Charlotte Football Club.
Walkes, who began his career at Tottenham Hotspur before moving on to Portsmouth and Atlanta United, died “as a result of an accident in South Florida,” according to the MLS club.
“Everyone at Tepper Sports & Entertainment is devastated by the tragic passing of Anton Walkes,” said club owner David Tepper in a statement.
