No. Kristin Smart and Elizabeth Smart are unrelated. Although the two abduction victims have the same surname, they are not related to one another.
They might have the same surname, but their cases are entirely different. But, people who followed the two girl’s kidnapping cases over the years can’t help but raise questions.

Kristin Smart Missing Case Update
Kristin Smart vanished without a trace in 1996 after being kidnapped on or around the campus of California Polytechnic State University.
Although no remains have ever been found, she was declared legally dead in 2002. After over two decades, it is still unclear what exactly happened after her abduction.
Moreover, authorities caught Paul Flores and accused him of killing Kristin Smart. They claimed Flores was with Kristin on the day she vanished.
Even though the indictment against his father, Ruben Flores, is only one count of being an accessory after the fact, he was also charged in relation to Kristin Smart’s disappearance and demise.

Paul Flores was a person of significant interest throughout the investigation. Eventually, he became the prime suspect in Kristin’s case and was convicted of abducting and killing the 19-year-old in 1996.
What happened To Elizabeth Smart?
Elizabeth Smart’s case is significantly different from Kristin Smart’s case as it ended in less tragedy.
Elizabeth Smart was abducted from her house by a man named Brian David Mitchell in June 2002. Unlike Kritisn, Elizabeth Smart was found alive several months after she vanished.
She was discovered nine months later, close to her family’s Utah home. She was with her kidnapper, who was reportedly a preacher, and his wife, Wanda Barzee.
Later, the victim testified that she was raped numerous times. Also, she disclosed whenever she went out with Mitchell and Barzee, they forced her to wear full body covering to conceal her identity.
They stayed in Utah’s Salt Lake City area and even traveled to San Diego.
Elizabeth was located with the couple in Sandy, Utah, after Elizabeth Smart’s younger sister described’s Mitchell’s face and a sketch was made public. As a result, Elizabeth Smart was able to return to her family.
Elizabeth and Kristin Smart’s cases are definitely different. But it has not stopped people from trying to draw connections between the two abduction victims.
