According to a senior Police officer, three people have been arrested in connection with the incident. This occurred two days after Ahmed’s son Asad was gunned down in a Police encounter in Jhansi.

While being escorted for a medical examination at Colvin Hospital, the brothers were shot dead, with Atiq being shot in the head from close range while speaking to reporters. Both brothers passed away instantly from their injuries.

As Atiq Ahmed was in the middle of answering a question posed by the media, one of the attackers aimed a gun at his head and fired while the other two opened Fire on his brother.

The brothers fell to the ground, and the assailants surrendered. Following the killing, there was a sense of unease in the region as the bullet-riddled corpses of Ahmad and Ashraf were taken from the scene.

Politicians Criticize UP Government

In response to the ****** of Atiq Ahmed and his brother, Akhilesh Yadav, the Leader of the Samajwadi Party, criticized the Uttar Pradesh government, stating that crime has peaked in the state.

He expressed concern about the public’s safety, given that someone could be killed in the middle of a Police cordon. Yadav suggested that some individuals may be intentionally creating an atmosphere of fear.

Similarly, Asaduddin Owaisi, the president of AIMIM, criticized the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh for the state’s “big failure of law and order.” 

He noted that Atiq and his brother were killed while in Police custody and raised slogans of JSR.
