On April 2020, Markus Duesmann was appointed CEO of Audi AG and a member of the board of management of the Volkswagen Group. He took over for Bram Schot, the CEO of Audi since 2018.

As The New York Times, the former chairman of Volkswagen, Herbert Diess, moved Mr. Duesmann from BMW to Audi three years ago. He was anticipated to increase sales of its electric vehicles.

Markus Duesmann was born in Heek, North Rhine-Westphalia, on June 23, 1969.

The departing Audi CEO earned an engineering degree in 1991 after completing his mechanical engineering studies at Muenster University of Applied Sciences.

In 1992, Mr. Duesmann joined at Mercedes-Benz firm in Stuttgart as a design engineer for a V12 series-production engine.

He was appointed chief department manager for new diesel engines at DaimlerChrysler AG in Stuttgart in 2004. In 2005, he was appointed head of Formula 1 development at Mercedes-Benz in Brixworth, England.
