Last year, Auston Matthews, the star player for the Toronto Maple Leafs, lost a tooth when he collided with the crossbar during a game against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Auston Matthews is considered one of the top players in the NHL today and is a key player for the Toronto Maple Leafs.

During a game against the Pittsburgh Penguins, Toronto Maple Leafs’ player Auston Matthews had a dental accident after colliding with the crossbar.

To illustrate, Matthews collided face-first with the Leafs’ net, losing some of his teeth.

Despite being teased by his teammates, Matthews returned to work with dental work done.

However, his focus on defensive coverage during the play was praised. Matthews missed some shifts but was able to return to play against the St. Louis Blues.

When a reporter asked him about the incident, he responded sarcastically, saying he thought putting his face through the crossbar would be great.

Despite the injury, Matthews did not miss any games and continued his successful season, scoring 33 goals and 59 points in 45 games.

The Maple Leafs faced off against the Montreal Canadiens in their next game. His teammate Mitch Marner later took revenge on the post during practice.

Auston Matthews: Long Hair Suits His Face

Auston Matthews is known for having a noteworthy hairstyle in the team, whether he grows it long or keeps it short.

While several fans project their choice for long hair suiting the professional ice hockey player, he looked equally handsome with short hair.

Matthews grew up playing youth hockey in Arizona before moving to Switzerland to play for the Zurich Lions of the Swiss National League.

Auston Matthews’ father and grandfather played baseball, making him more skilled at baseball than hockey initially.

However, he attended his first hockey game at age two and started playing the sport four years later.

He learned valuable lessons from a broken femur he sustained while playing for USA Hockey’s Under-17 National Team Development Program.

It later came in handy when Matthews got injured while playing for Zurich in Switzerland.

In 2016, he was selected as the first overall pick by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the NHL Entry Draft, becoming the first American-born player to be selected first overall since Patrick Kane in 2007.

Matthews had an outstanding rookie season in the NHL, scoring 40 goals and 29 assists for 69 points in 82 games.

He was awarded the Calder Memorial Trophy as the league’s top rookie, becoming the first Maple Leaf player to win the award since Brit Selby in 1966.
