Brandon Nakashima started playing tennis at a young age, and he quickly began to develop his skills on the court. 

He rose to prominence as a junior player, winning the USTA Boys’ 18s National Championship in 2018 and earning a wild card into the US Open men’s singles draw.

In 2019, Nakashima decided to forego college tennis and turn professional.

He made his ATP debut at the Los Cabos Open that year, where he defeated world No. 49 Cameron Norrie in the first round before falling in the second round.

He also successfully ran at the Challenger level, reaching the finals in three events and winning one title. In 2020, Nakashima continued to make strides in his career.

He received a wild card into the Delray Beach Open, defeating world No. 58 Jiri Vesely in the first round before falling to world No. 21 John Isner in the quarterfinals.

He also won his first Challenger title in Orlando, Florida, and finished the year ranked No. 166 worldwide.

In 2021, Nakashima continued his ascent up the ranking by reaching his first ATP final at the Delray Beach Open.

Nakashima defeated several higher-ranked opponents, including John Isner and Cameron Norrie, before falling to Hubert Hurkacz in the final.

Likewise, Brandon won his second Challenger title in Quimper, France, and reached the third round of the Australian Open.

Nakashima finished the previous season strongly and won his first ATP title in San Diego, leading him to victory in the Next Gen ATP Finals.
