Monjack was a British screenwriter, film director, producer, and makeup artist. He had worked in a couple of low-budget movies before meeting Murphy.
The English producer was born to a Jewish family in Hillingdon, Middlesex, and grew up in Bourne End, Buckinghamshire.
In 2000, Simon directed, produced, and wrote the B movie Two Days. He was also credited with the story in the 2006 biographical film Factory Girl about Edie Sedgwick.
In 2007, it was reported that he was slated to direct The White Hotel, with Brittany Murphy as a leading actress. However, the project never started.
The two worked together in the 2010 thriller movie Abandoned, starring Murphy; Monjack was her hairstylist. It is one of the two posthumously released movies of the late actress.

According to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office, the British producer was found dead on May 23, 2010, in his Hollywood house.
Murphy’s mother, Sharon, called 911 after she found her son-in-law unconscious in the master bedroom at around 9:20 pm.
Soon the paramedics arrived, but it was too late, as Monjack was pronounced dead at 9:45 pm.
The coroner’s report concluded that the cause of Monjack’s ***** was acute pneumonia and severe anemia.
It was a strange coincidence because his wife, Brittany Murphy, also died under similar circumstances five months earlier.
The Los Angeles County Department of Health considered the possible cause of their deaths as toxic mold in their house.
However, it was dismissed by LA Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter, who stated that mold was not a factor in their deaths.
Brittany’s mother, Sharon, claimed that the reports of mold contributing to the two deaths were absurd.
But in December 2011, Sharon changed her stance and filed a lawsuit against the attorneys representing her in a suit against the California home builders.
Months before Monjack’s *****, his mother, Linda, told People that her son was unwell and had a slight heart ****** just a week before Brittany’s *****.
Simon was buried next to Brittany at Forest Lawn in Hollywood Hills.

The wedding came as a surprise to many fans as the couple rarely made public appearances together and did not announce their engagement.
Both Brittany and Simon were in relationships before they tied the knot.
Simon had been married to Simone Bienne since November 2001. However, their relationship ended in 2006, the same year he met his future wife, Brittany.

Murphy was engaged to talent manager Jeff Kwatinetz for a while, but the relationship ended without a marriage.
