Carlos Medina Arrested In Connection With The Shooting Death Of Auxiliary Bishop David O’Connell
Carlos Median was arrested two days after David’s death; it has been confirmed that he is the husband of O’Connell’s housekeeper.
As per the various sources, Median owned some money with Auxiliary Bishop. Investigator mentioned Median previously worked for the victim.
Police said the reason behind his death was not clarified immediately, as the shooter was unavailable at the scene.
On Sunday, the investigator was at Median House; he lived with his wife and a roommate but was not home then.
Negibour mentioned that Police were trying to cooperate with his family and were interviewing him until he arrived at 3 pm.
On the day of the incident, the 64-year-old man defended himself and refused to leave his House, but he was eventually arrested on Monday at 8 am and is currently in custody.
Despite the man’s age, people were surprised that he could be the suspect in the case, and many questioned why he would commit murder.

David O’Connell held the position of auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. He was born on March 24, 1950, in County Cork, Ireland, and was murdered on 18 Febuary, 2023.
O’Connell was known for his love for the Church and his dedication to serving the people of God.
He will be remembered as a kind and compassionate shepherd who lived his life serving others.
O’Connell was a priest who served as the pastor of multiple parishes in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, including St. Michael’s Parish in Los Angeles and St. John Fisher Parish in Rancho Palos Verdes.
Additionally, he was involved in Catholic education and was the director of the Office of Religious Education for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.
Sheriff Robert Luna identified the man and has been working on the case, and he mentioned, “Although I did not know the bishop, I cannot tell you how many calls I’ve received over the last 48 hours from people.”
Luna added, “This man, this bishop, made a difference in this community. He was loved.”
Besides Luna, many people shared their thoughts following the murder, “He was a good priest and a good bishop and a man of peace,” Gómez said as his voice cracked with emotion. “We are unfortunate to lose him.”
