On March 30, 2023, at 2:45 PM, the Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service (AMPS) released a press statement. AMPS is searching for a missing individual from Akwesasne with the help of the public.
Moreover, AMPS stated that there is no proof that Casey Oakes has suffered an injury. Police are constantly searching for Oakes to make sure he is secure and safely returned to his family because of his extended absence.
Casey Oakes, who is age 30, was reported missing. He was last seen getting on a tiny, light blue ship leaving Cornwall Island’s east end at about 9:30 p.m.
According to their press statement, Oakes was last seen wearing a black vest, snow trousers, a black face mask, and a black toque.

Casey Oakes Case Update
While police were looking for Casey Oakes from his late-seen location, the authorities were led with the discovery.
Authorities and search party were shocked when they found eight migrants’ dead bodies, including two children who had perished while attempting to enter the US illegally from Canada.
On Friday, a police aircraft discovered two additional dead in the St. Lawrence River. Among the victims are two families each from India and Romania.
At the time, authorities were looking for 30-year-old Casey Oakes, a missing boater in the region. Search parties are still being conducted for Casey Oakes’ missing case.
There has also been rising speculation about whether Mr. Oakes and the family are connected in any way.
According to police, the first victim was discovered in a marsh in Tsi Snaihne, a Mohawk territory located just over the US-Canada border, at around 17:00 local time (21:00 GMT). Nearby, additional bodies were found.
Two children and six adults were among the deceased. One youngster had a Canadian passport and was under the age of three.
At a press conference on Friday, the local police chief revealed to reporters that the other infant was also a Canadian citizen.
According to Lee-Ann O’Brien, deputy chief of the Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service, the remains are thought to be from two families, one of Romanian and one of Indian heritage.
