OceanGate: Who Is David Lochridge?

David Lochridge is a former employee at OceanGate. He is the ex-director of the company’s marine operations. Furthermore, he worked as an independent contractor for OceanGate in 2015.

Likewise, Lochridge served as an employee between 2016 and 2018. The company terminated his employment and sued Lochridge and his wife in 2018. 

The lawsuit claimed Lochridge shared confidential information, misappropriated trade mysteries and used the company for immigration assistance, then manufactured a reason to be fired.

The lawsuit even noted Lochridge is not an engineer, calling him a submersible pilot and a diver. As the company’s Titan has gone missing and it has scared the world, safety concerns have been raised.

David Lochridge Wikipedia Explored

As stated earlier, David Lochridge served as the director of OceanGate’s marine operations. He was the director who voiced concern about security and was sacked by the company.

David warned in 2018 that lax quality control and safety procedures might risk the sub’s safety, which paying passengers would not be aware of.

Likewise, he requested that the corporation scan Titan’s hull rather than relying only on acoustic monitoring, which would only catch an issue milliseconds before an implosion.

Furthermore, David was terminated by the company, and they even sued him and his wife. Meanwhile, David said in a countersuit he was tasked by OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush. 

In the same way, the lawsuit says, Lochridge brought up concerns that no non-destructive testing had been performed on the Titan’s hull to check for delaminations, porosity and voids of adequate adhesion of the glue being used due to the thickness of the hull.

When Lochridge raised the issue, it says, he was told no tools existed to perform such a test. Moreover, the lawsuit was settled and dismissed in November 2018. The settlement terms were not disclosed.

David Lochridge age may be between 40 to 50. As of now, the actual age of OceanGate’s former employee can’t be shared as none of the verified media sources have given the info.

He talked about his early life in the media. While talking with BBC, David said he was born with webbed feet, and his father used to comment he looked like a merman and was destined for the sea.

Further, his dad’s prediction was borne out as David spent much of his life in marine-related jobs, including commercial diving and submarine piloting.
