On May 13, 2023, Plummer performed at a benefit concert held by the Denyse Plummer Foundation to give thanks for her lengthy and storied career.

Denyse was undergoing treatment for stage four cancer. Last month, as rumors of her death started circulating, her son Jesse Boocock told the media that Denyse was resting comfortably at her house and spending time with family as Plummer had decided to undergo chemotherapy for cancer no longer.
