Julian Lapkus, her older brother, is a real estate agent by trade. She finished her high school education at Evanston Township High School in Illinois.

On May 3, 2014, Lauren and Chris exchanged vows; however, on February 14, 2016, they announced their separation after over two years of marriage.

She married Mike Castle, her second husband, two years after their divorce. On October 5, 2018, they exchanged vows in front of a judge. In the TBS television program “Clipped,” Mike, who is also an actress, costarred with Lauren.

On July 2021, the former cast member of Orange Is the New Black announced that she and her husband, Mike Castle, had given birth to a girl they called Holly. On her Instagram, Lapkus posted a sweet video of the newborn girl along with the name of the child and two cloud emojis.

In the video, a too-cute Holly was seen sucking on a pacifier while snoozing on a DockATot while wearing a floral onesie. Welcome to this crazy world, Holly, Castle said in a message on his Instagram account with the same video.
