Emily Sanderson Missing Woman For 11 Days Found Dead
Emily Sanderson’s body was discovered inside a building on Crofton Avenue in Hillsborough, on Tuesday, May 30, at noon.
The 48-year-old had not been seen or heard from since Friday, May 19, when she attended a family funeral, and she had been reported missing since the previous Thursday, May 25.
Between the time she was reported missing on May 25 and the time her body was found on May 30, a period of five days, South Yorkshire Police did not issue a missing persons appeal.
It formally referred the matter to the IOPC (Independent Office for Police Conduct).
It is unknown at what point investigators had positively recognized Ms. Sanderson between her body being found on Tuesday and police identifying her three days later on Friday.
The home where Ms. Sanderson was discovered had undergone “painstaking and extensive forensic examination,” according to Detective Chief Inspector Andrea Bowell, who was speaking on Friday.
She stated that it was important to gather evidence to help them understand exactly what happened.
Mark Nicholls Arrested For Murder Of Emily Sanderson
Mark Nicholls, 44, of Crofton Avenue in Hillsborough, was charged with her murder, South Yorkshire Police reported today.
The police reported that Nicholls, detained on Saturday after being charged on Friday, had been remanded in custody and would appear in court on Monday, June 5, the following day.
In addition, a 41-year-old woman is still free on police bail after being detained on suspicion of aiding criminals on May 31.
The state of the Crofton Avenue property, which neighbors thought had been vacant for some time before the ominous finding, has complicated their inquiry.
In addition, the events that took place between May 19 and May 30 are still a mystery. Police are requesting anyone who may have knowledge of Emily’s whereabouts during that time to get in touch as they try to piece together this awful loss of life.
To better understand Emily’s actions, Sheffield residents are being requested to review their doorbell or CCTV recordings if they live close to Crofton Avenue.
