Born on 8 January 2004, Emoni Bates is the son of Elgin Bates and Edith Bates. He was born at the University of Michigan hospital in Ann Arbor.
His dad is a former basketball player and professional basketball skill development trainer. As a result, Bates began his training when he was three.
