Ethan Crumbley is a sophomore student born on April 28, 2006, who came into the media after being named the suspect in the Oxford High School shooting that happened on November 30, 2021.
Crumbley murdered four students and injured seven people, including a teacher. Following that, Crumbley was arrested and charged Crumbley as an adult with 24 crimes, including killing and terrorism.
Furthermore, he pleaded guilty to all of the charges in October 2022. At the time of his arrest, a 9 mm SIG Sauer SP 2022 semi-automatic handgun and at least two 15-round magazines were retrieved.

So, many believed that Crumbley may have opened the fire due to his mental illness. Reportedly, his mother was aware of Ethan’s mental state when the parents purchased him a gun.
His mother, Jennifer, said, “You know, my biggest fear was that he was gonna turn the gun on himself.” In a talk on April 5, 2021, prosecutors conveyed “quite a bit” of discussion about Ethan’s mental state in which Crumbley told his friend he was not fine.
Crumbley told his friend he was experiencing hallucinations and had asked his parents for help. In one text, Ethan said that his mom thinks he now takes drugs, which was why she thinks he was so mad and sad all the time.
Not only that, but Ethan told his friend that his mom didn’t care about his mental health. Likewise, he told his father to take him to the doctor, but he just gave him some pills.

Oxford school shooter Ethan Crumbley seems to be in depression, as his mental health issue has been talked about multiple times. Before the shooting happened, Ethan, himself talked about it with his friend.
Some behaviors of Ethan left many people worried. Oxford High School counselor Shawn Hopkins testified about the steps taken after a teacher found disturbing drawings on math homework depicting a handgun and the words.
In the note, Ethan also wrote, “My life is useless” and “The world is dead.” Hopkins testified that he met with Crumbley to discuss the homework and evaluate his mental state.
While testifying, Hopkins told Ethan’s parents that their son needed mental health support possibly the same day. But the counselor reported that Jennifer said she had to return to work that day, and it wouldn’t be probable within that timeframe.
Where Is Ethan Crumbley Now?
Ethan Crumbley is serving his time in jail as he has pleaded guilty to 24 charges, including one count of terrorism and four counts of first-degree murder.
For your information, a first-degree murder conviction usually brings an automatic no-parole sentence in Michigan. But teenagers are permitted to a hearing where their lawyer can raise immaturity, mental condition, family life and other problems while arguing for a shorter term.
So, last week, Ethan also requested that his life without parole sentence be removed, wear street clothes to the Miller hearing, and keep witnesses of the shooting from testifying at the Miller hearing.
However, a judge Tuesday denied a request to dismiss a prosecutors’ motion to seek a sentence of life without parole for killing four fellow students.
