Erode Venkata Krishnasamy Sampath (E.V.K.S) Elangovan is an Indian politician and former member of the Lok Sabha.
Elangovan, a member of the Indian National Congress Party, represented Tamil Nadu’s Gobichettipalayam constituency.
Besides, he was a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) in Tamil Nādu from the Sathyamangalam constituency in 1985.
Elangovan also served as a Minister of State under Manmohan Singh (2004-2009).

Erode East Congress MLA E. Thirumahan Everaa, the son of E.V.K.S Elangovan, is no more.
Everaa died of a cardiac arrest on Wednesday, January 4. He was 46.
The Tamil Nadu Congress MLA got elected to the assembly from the Erode East constituency following his victory at the 2021 assembly polls.
He won the contest by defeating ADMK candidate Yuvaraja with a margin of more than 8000 votes.
Everaa’s untimely demise had shocked the Party, with several political leaders paying their tributes and expressing condolences to the mourning family.
Per family members, Everaa developed chest pain around 12:30 pm. “He was struggling to breathe,” said S Vijayabaskar, PA, to the MLA.
The family rushed him to a private hospital in Erode, but he died before reaching the hospital. Doctors confirmed him dead on arrival.
Former Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president E.V.K.S Elangovan was in Chennai when his son died. “He [Elangovan] is coming to Erode,” Vijayabaskar said.
EVKS Elangovan Comes From A Renowned Family
The late E. Thirumahan Everaa was the son of senior Congress Leader E.V.K.S Elangovan, grandson of E.V.K.S Sampath, and great-grandson of Periyar E. V. Ramasamy’s brother Krishnasamy.
The family has been in politics for many generations. Elangovan was a Lok Sabha member and a current member of INC.
Sampath was also in politics as a former MP from the Namakkal constituency.
Periyar EV Ramasamy is celebrated as the Dravidian stalwart and social reformer.
Likewise, Everaa’s mother’s name is Varalakshmi. He was the elder son and left behind a younger brother.
Everaa is also survived by his wife and a daughter, whose names are N/A.
The unprecedented demise of the legislator has drawn attention across and beyond the state.
Chief Minister MK Stalin expressed his tribute and said, “Everaa had the affection of everyone through his calm and responsible demeanors and respect for senior members in the House.”
Likewise, other senior leaders like KS Alagiri and Jairam Ramesh were among those who expressed their condolence messages.
