Odjick fought back despite doctors giving him only weeks to live in 2015. Odjick skated onto Rogers Arena ice in full gear before the start of the 2019-20 season as part of the club’s 50th-anniversary festivities.
His arrival brought the House down again as supporters chanted, “Gino! Gino! Gino!”
He played 444 games for the Canucks and has the most penalty minutes in team history.
Odjick, who is in the Canucks Ring of Honour, made Vancouver his home after his playing days were over. He was commonly spotted throughout the town and at the arena on game days, still wearing Canucks apparel and cheering for the team.
