The Women in Love actress passed away at her home in Blackheath, southeast London, after a “brief illness,” according to her agent. The actress put up her acting career in 1992 to serve in Parliament for more than 20 years.

She recently wrapped up production for the upcoming film The Great Escaper, which stars Sir Michael, 90, as elderly Bernard Jordan, who eluded capture in 2014 to travel to France for the 70th anniversary of the D-Day Landings.
