A 19-year-old suspect was apprehended by the police while attempting to escape. Richmond’s interim police chief, Rick Edwards, announced that the suspect would be charged with two counts of second-degree murder.

One of the deceased was an 18-year-old male student who had just graduated from Huguenot High School, while the other victim was his stepfather, a 36-year-old man who had come to attend the graduation.

According to Chief Edwards, the girl received initial treatment at the scene and was later taken to a local hospital, where she continues to recover from non-life-threatening wounds.
The chief characterized her injuries as “very minor” during a press conference held on Wednesday.
