Gram Parsons had a daughter Polly Parsons with Nancy Lee Ross Parsons.
Polly was born to Gram’s ex-girlfriend Nancy Ross, with whom he had a short affair.
Parson’s childhood friend, Brandon de Wilde, introduced him to Ross. At that time, Nancy was David Crosby’s girlfriend.
However, Gram was able to take Nancy away from David and marry her. Soon, she became pregnant with his child.
However, Gram did not relish the responsibility of being a father and ordered nancy to have an abortion.
She refused and gave birth to Polly Parsons in late 1967. Shortly after their daughter’s birth, the couple split up, and Nancy moved to Santa Barbara with her daughter.
Nancy raised Polly alone and was so enraged with her ex-husband that she did not allow Gram Parsons’s music in her house.
Nevertheless, Polly used to listen to her father’s music sneaking under her bed.
Polly had a troubled upbringing and suffered from cocaine and alcohol addiction as a teenager.
She also kept it a secret that she was the daughter of legendary musician Gram Parsons.
However, Polly turned her life around and reclaimed her father’s musical heritage, producing tribute concerts.
She created Hickory Wind Ranch and Gram Parsons Foundation, which helps musicians deal with drug abuse recovery.
Polly currently resides in Austin, Texas. She has a daughter, Harper Lee.
