Strydom participated in the Craven Week competitions in 1983 and 1984 on behalf of the Eastern Province Schools team. He debuted for Eastern Province as a senior provincial in 1986.

The collision happened on the N4 just before Emalahleni in the direction of Pretoria, according to Strydom’s wife Nikolie, who told Netwerk24 that she didn’t know any further details about the tragedy’s circumstances.

On social media, the Lions, with whom Strydom played more than 100 games between 1993 and 2003, honored him.

When Hannes and Nikolie moved back into their Waterkloof house in October 2019, they shared a room that had seen the highs and lows of their married lives.

Reports, however, indicated that the pair no longer shared a bedroom, indicating a change in their relationship dynamics.

In addition to being a former rugby union player for South Africa, Johannes Jacobus “Hannes” Strydom is a loving father to his three kids.

Death Of Hannes Strydom

Reports from South Africa state that Hannes Strydom, a former lock for the Springboks, passed away tragically in an automobile accident. 

Sadly, the Springboks Rugby World Cup winner perishes in an automobile accident.

The 58-year-old, who was a member of the Boks squad that won the Rugby World Cup in 1995, passed away on Sunday night following the Mpumalanga crash. 

Kobus Wiese, a close friend and former teammate, told South African media that the late celebrity was involved in an accident with a cab, confirming the tragedy.

Between 1993 and 1997, Strydom earned 21 caps for South Africa. He also started in the legendary 1995 final in the second row with Wiese.

In 1986, he began his senior provincial career. Two years later, he moved to Northern Transvaal, which is currently home to the Bulls. 

However, he spent most of his club rugby career with Transvaal, which has become the Golden Lions. From 1993 to 2000, he made 115 appearances for them.

After hanging up his boots, Strydom worked as a pharmacist in Pretoria and founded the Pharma Valu pharmacy business. 

Nine years have passed since he was admitted to intensive care due to a fractured skull and stab wounds sustained while thwarting a plot to steal a car.
