In Fullerton, the pursuit started at about 6:45. The culprit began his journey through the Southland on November 9 and continued for more than an hour before arriving in Whittier, where he was eventually apprehended.

Moreno Valley resident Johnny Anchondo, 33, was brought into custody after the incident. He had 18 prior crimes and was on parole, it was discovered in the days following his arrest.

After the chase started, the guy entered an Anaheim apartment building and stole John Reynolds’ white van, which Reynolds had been using for his food delivery service business. He repeatedly rammed a Police car with that van before escaping the scene.

The pursuit continued as he drove wildly across surface streets, on the wrong side of the road, and even on the sidewalk, occasionally traveling at speeds of up to 100 mph.

He continued to hold the throttle foot down as that automobile eventually lost one of its back tires, sending sparks flying and smoke billowing through the air.

Then, Anchondo abandoned the van and ran foot into a Whittier area where he would commit a home invasion and steal the truck’s keys from the Benitez family. Despite their attempts to stop him, he escaped with yet another stolen car, causing officials to pursue him again.

He nearly hit numerous Police cars that were in his way as he tried to exit the cul-de-sac.
