Huw Edwards does not have a brother. Rather, the presenter is blessed with a sister identified as Meinir Edwards.

Huw’s sister, Meinir, is an accomplished author. She works for Y Lolfa as an editor of the company. She has written several books that are on sale through different platforms, including Y Lolfa’s website and several others.  

Some of her books are Welsh Folk Stories and Famous Welsh Tales, both of which costs £4.95 on Y Lolfa’s website.

She has also authored books like Dic Penderyn, Am Ddiwrnod!, Maelgwn, King of Gwynedd, and many more. She also works on the translation of several books. 

Colin Campbell’s Am Loteri! and Sita Brahmachari’s Angylion Pryder are some of her translation works. Besides, the author has also worked on several other translation works. 

Meinir currently resides in Llandre, Ceredigion. She shares a loving relationship with her brother Huw, and they bond very well.

They grew up together in Glamorgan, Wales, alongside their family but spent the majority of their childhood in Llangennech, near Llanelli.

In an interview, Meinir stated her opinion that the presenter’s career prospects were aided by their connection. She further explained that her brother Huw and father were similar in many ways. 

So, they would capture the audience’s attention with just a couple of words. She believed they didn’t always get along because of their similarities. They were both fervent believers in what they did. 

Huw Edwards Family: Who Are The Journalist’s Parents?

Huw Edwards’ illustrious parents are Hywel Teifi Edwards and Aerona Protheroe.

Huw was born to his loving parents on August 18, 1961, in Glamorgan, Wales. But he was later brought up in Llangennech, near Llanelli, since the age of four. 

His father, Hywel, was a historian and scholar from Wales. He was a researcher in Welsh-language literature at University College, Swansea, and an activist for Plaid Cymru.

Hywel sadly passed away on January 4, 2010, at the age of 75.

Aerona Protheroe, Edwards’ mother, spent 30 years as a teacher at Ysgol Gyfun y Strade in Llanelli. However, there are still unrevealed secrets about the life of his mother, Aerona.

Huw acknowledged in interviews that his grandfather worked as a coal miner and that he was raised in a Welsh-speaking family.

Edwards places a high value on his family, and he frequently discusses his efforts to strike a balance between them and his career.
