Bob Huggins is a devout follower of Christianity. The former West Virginia coach holds and practices his faith in high regard.
Huggins has often discussed his faith in interviews. According to RC Online, the renowned basketball coach said he is a Christian and believes in God. Bob believes that God has a plan for his existence and endeavors to live according to that plan.
Likewise, in a 2010 interview, the former West Virginia head coach stated that his faith is essential to him. Bob added his faith has helped him endure many difficult circumstances and aided him in maintaining perspective.

Bob Huggins Called Xavier Fans Catholic F–s
During a radio show appearance in May 2023, Bob Huggins used a homophobic slur in reference to Xavier University’s fans.
Before claiming that they threw rubber penises onto the court during Crosstown Shootout, the former West Virginia head coach called fans of Xavier “Catholic f–s.”
Following the incident, West Virginia University suspended and reduced Bob Huggins’ salary for the 2023-2024 season.
Huggins’ salary was reduced by $1 million. West Virginia University stated that the money would go to the school’s LGBTQ+ center, the Carruth Center, and other organizations supporting marginalized individuals.
Bob was suspended for the first three games of the current season. Later, the 60-year-old apologized, expressed his regret and said there was no excuse for his hurtful words.
Huggins’ multiyear contract was changed to a year-to-year arrangement, and he was also told to participate in sensitivity training.

Bob Huggins was born in Morgantown, West Virginia, United States, on 21 September 1953. He grew up with his parents, Norma and Charles Huggins.
His family moved to Port Washington, Ohio, when he was young. His father was also involved in basketball and was a high school basketball coach.
Bob played under his father’s coaching at Indian Valley South High School. It looks like Bob’s mom and dad were highly supportive of his career. Huggins’ siblings include his brother Larry Huggins and Harry Huggins.
