She attended Belmont Central Elementary School and Belmont Junior High School while growing up in Belmont, North Carolina, and graduated from South Point High School in 1998.
She was introduced to society at the Gastonia Debutante Ball the same year. She participated in basketball, softball, and tennis at South Point.
