Following the unexpected death news of the MasterChef Australia judge, Jimmy Barnes paid tribute to him.
The singer posted a snap of himself with the celebrity chef. In the picture, the two prominent personalities – both wearing Scottish tartan – can be seen looking at a phone.
Along with the picture, Barnes wrote, “It is a very sad day.” While acknowledging that they lost another dear friend, the Blue Christmas hitmaker said Jock Zonfrillo was like a brother to him, and they made one another laugh and cry.
“My heart goes out to Jock’s family. I am speechless. Rest, my friend,” added the musician.
It looks like Jimmy Barnes and Jock Zonfrillo shared a close connection as good friends. Although both are from Scotland, they don’t seem to have a biological or blood-related connection.
The celebrity chef died in Melbourne on 30 April 2023. In addition to his accomplishment in the culinary career, he was also a philanthropist, a loving father, husband, brother, and son. He is survived by his wife, Lauren Fried and four kids.

The late celebrity chef Jock Zonfrillo hails from Glasgow, Scotland. His dad is from Scauri, Italy. On the other hand, his mom is from Dalmellington, Ayrshire, Scotland.
Jock began working as a part-time dishwasher in the kitchen when he was just 13. By the age of 22, he became head chef at The Tresanton Hotel in Cornwall.
Zonfrillo and his family moved to Melbourne in March 2020 when his restaurants closed. The family had been residing in Carlton until his passing.
