She co-hosts the daytime talk show The View on ABC, where she is the only remaining original panelist who still appears on the show.

Is Joy Behar Fired From The View? Controversy Explained

Yes, Joy Behar was fired from The View back in August 2013. However, she said she was “happy to be fired” from the talk show.

In a July 2022 interview with Time, the original host of The View revealed that she was relieved to be fired because she was “basically sick of the show.”

She added that she was on extra time and did not have to work and be on television and that she didn’t have to have a microphone.

Despite being out of the show, the original panelist continued to guest co-host throughout 2014 and 2015.

Nevertheless, the temporary termination lasted for two years, as Behar returned as a full-time panelist in the 19th season premiere in September 2015.

After returning, Behar said she was happy to be back home and looking forward to giving her opinion on recent topics.

A Look Into Joy Behar Career

Joy Behar started her career in the early 1980s as a receptionist in Good Morning America, where she later became a producer.

Behar started appearing in stand-up comedy routines for Good Morning America and the short-lived The New Show.

In 1987, she then hosted Way Off Broadway, a talk show on Lifetime Television which included Larry David as a writer and performer.

Moreover, Behar was also a regular on NBC’s Baby Boom and hosted the show Live from Queens.

In the meanwhile, she continued her work on comedy club circuit, later appearing on HBO comedy specials One Night Stand and Women of the Night 2.

She also had minor roles in movies such as Cookie, Manhattan ****** Mystery, and This is My Life.

Joy Behar Family 

Joy Behar was born Josephine Occhiuto on October 7, 1942, in Williamsburg Brooklyn to Rose (née Carbone) and Gino Occhiuto.

Her parents were Roman Catholic of Italian descent; her mother was a seamstress, and her father was a Coca-Cola truck driver.

Joy married Joe Behar in 1965, and the couple have a daughter, Eve Behar Scotti. 

Their marriage, however, ended in divorce in 1981. Despite their divorce, Joy adopted her ex-surname, husband’s Behar.

Joy began dating Steve Janowitz in 1982, and they have been together since then, marrying in 2011.

The talk-show host revealed that she first met Steve at a semi-nudist colony and that he was naked when she first saw him.

She resides in The Hamptons and owns a home on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.
