Yes. Luca Marini is the maternal half-brother of nine-time motorcycle Grand Prix world champion Valentino Rossi.
Valentino and Luca might not carry the same surname, but it is a well-established fact that they’re brothers.
Rossi was eighteen years old when his mother gave birth to Marini on 10 August 1997. At the time, the 45-year-old was a few weeks away from winning his first Grand Prix world champion title.
Rossi rose to stardom due to his extraordinary accomplishment on track to the point that he could not leave his Milan house without being mobbed by his fans. Eventually, the legendary racer left his home country and moved to London in 2000.
Rossi returned to his home in the late 2000s and lived with his mother and little brother, Luca. In an interview with ESPN, Marini said Rossi was just his brother, and he never thought about his prominence.
“As I began to enter the world championship, this thought crossed my mind. He would return home on a Monday when I was at home watching the races,” stated the 26-year-old. For Luca, it was nothing more than his elder brother returning home from work.
Although Valentino is superhuman while on track, he is a doting big brother at home.

Luca Marini and Valentino are more than siblings. Besides their familial relationship, the two motorcycle racers are known for their team ride.
Rossi participated in the 2019 Gulf 12 Hour at Yas Marina Circuit in a Ferrari 488 GT3 driven by Kessel Racing. Alessio Salucci and Luca Marini were his co-drivers.
Likewise, in January 2021, the trio participated in the 2020 Gulf 12 Hours. Furthermore, there is pressure to share a bloodline with successful people.
Valentino is one of the greatest riders the sport has ever seen. Addressing the comparison between his and his elder’s carer, Luca said, “It is impossible to make any comparison with Vale.”
“Not just for me but for everybody, for Alex Rins, Marc Marquez, Pecco Bagnaia, and Fabio Quartararo. It is not possible. It has a completely distinct history, era, and bike selection. The world is entirely different,” added the young rider.
And the accusations come next. Many people have accused Marini of only getting his seat in MotoGP due to Rossi. But the 26-year-old said it doesn’t bother him. He added his critics are allowed to hold any opinions they like.
