Although police have started looking at Letby’s whole career, including her time at Liverpool Women’s Hospital, since her conviction, there was no evidence found during the first investigation that patients at the hospital had been harmed in any way.

Although Letby’s motivation for the killings remains unknown, the prosecution made numerous hypotheses throughout her trial.

These included boredom, the fact that she “got a thrill” from the circumstances surrounding the deaths, and the fact that she liked “playing God.”

She was in charge; the prosecution informed the jurors. She was content with the situation. She was making predictions about events that she knew were inevitable.
