Is Manish Sisodia Arrested? What Did the Deputy Chief Minister Of Delhi Do?
No, Manish Sisodia is not arrested. As reported by Hindustan Times, in connection with the Delhi Excise Policy Scam investigation, the CBI questioned Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Sunday.
After paying respects to Mahatma Gandhi at Raj Ghat, Sisodia reportedly arrived at the heavily guarded CBI office. The agency filed its charge sheet on 25 November.
The CBI began interrogating nearly three months after the charge sheet was filed. Before this, the Uttar Pradesh-born politician had been questioned on 17 October.
Sisodia and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) assured full investigation cooperation. The central agency is set to question Sisodia over several aspects of the excise strategy that was later abandoned, his alleged links to politicians and alcohol distributors, and assertions made by witnesses in their statements.
Sisodia had previously expressed concern about being detained. He had claimed, “They are using the CBI to get retribution, and I’m sure they will achieve that by getting me jailed.” Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, also asserted on Friday that Sisodia would be detained by the CBI on Sunday, according to his sources.
The CBI will examine Sisodia on several topics related to the excise policy that has since been abandoned, his alleged connections to politicians and booze dealers, and assertions made by witnesses in their testimonies, nearly three months after submitting its charge sheet.
The Enforcement Directorate has claimed that the AAP’s 2022 Goa assembly election Campaign “utilized” a portion of the suspected $100 crore in “kickbacks” produced in the scrapped Delhi tax policy.
Who Is Manish Sisodia?
Manish Sisodia was born in Hapur, Uttar Pradesh, on 5 January 1972. The 52-year-old politician grew up in a Hindu family in Phagauta village.
His dad was a public school teacher. Manish Sisodia commenced his professional career as a Journalist after earning a diploma in journalism from Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in 1993.
During his early career, Sisodia worked as a radio jockey on an FM radio station. He is the former host of the “Zero Hour” radio show for All India Radio and a reporter, news producer and newsreader between 1997 and 2005 for Zea News.
Talking about his marital life, Manish Sisodia is married to Seema Sisodia. It is unknown if they have a kid, Meer Sisodia.
Manish Sisodia Political Career
Manish Sisodia was the founding member of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and a member of its Political Affairs Committee.
The Uttar Pradesh native defeated Nakul Bhardwaj in the Delhi Assembly election in December 2013 to become a member of the legislative assembly.
Manish Sisodia is also an elected MLA from the Patparganj constituency for a third consecutive term. The former cabinet minister of the NCT government was a social activist and Journalist before being elected to the legislative assembly of Delhi.
Besides his political and journalism career, Sisodia is also an author. His book “Shiksha: My Experiments as an Education Minister” documents the progress of school reforms in Delhi and has won praise for its helpful advice on transforming education.
