Rudy Giuliani was born in East Flatbush, New York City, on May 28, 1944, to an Italian-American family.

Giuliani’s hometown was an Italian-American enclave in Brooklyn. He is the only child of Helen and Harold Angelo Giuliani.

Both his parents, born to Italian immigrants, were from working-class families.

His paternal grandparents, Evangelina Rodolfo Giuliani, were born in Montecatini Terme, Tuscany, Italy, and immigrated to the United States.

Rudy’s father, Harold Giuliani, was a plumber convicted of robbery and felony assault.

After being released from prison, Harold worked as an enforcer for Leo D’Avanzo, his brother-in-law, who operated an organized crime affiliate at a Brooklyn restaurant. 

The family lived in East Flatbush until Harold died from prostate cancer in 1981. Helen then moved to Manhattan’s Upper East side and passed away in 2002.

Rudy Giuliani has been married thrice. He was married to Regina Peruggi, Donna Hanover, and Judith Nathan.

Giuliani’s first marriage was on October 26, 1968, with Regina Peruggi, with whom he was familiar since childhood.

However, their union did not last long, as they separated in 1975 and divorced in 1982.

Rudy began dating local television personality Donna Hanover in 1982. The two married on April 15, 1984, in a Catholic ceremony at St Monica’s Church in Manhattan.

Giuliani has two children with Hanover, Andrew and Caroline Rose. Andrew is a political commentator and golfer.

Caroline Rose is a filmmaker who often comes to the limelight for publicly disagreeing with and criticizing her father’s politics and political endorsement.

In 2002, the marriage ended in a divorce, which resulted in Giuliani paying $6.8 million and the custody of the children to Hanover.
