However, Quintanilla’s family was devasted and lost hope following their daughter’s loss.

Selena’s Father, Abraham Quintanilla, said that he and his family stopped caring for his daughter’s killer. Besides, he doesn’t care if Saldívar is released today or at any time because nothing would bring his daughter back.

Moreover, Saldívar still holds on to her statement that she shot Selena accidentally. She maintains that killing Selena was not planned and was an accident.

According to Yolanda, Selena’s killer, she wanted to commit suicide because Yolanda was sexually abused in Mexico, and Selena was there to save her.

But the gun went off when Selena tried to open the door and save Yolanda from killing herself.

However, the investigating team and the court never believed fan killer Yolanda Saldívar’s made-up story and found it repetitive and lying.

She pled not guilty in October 1995’s trial. Nevertheless, the jury felt otherwise and likely ended up agreeing.

In addition, Selena’s Father, Abraham, believed the fan lady killed his daughter in a crime of passion. He said in an interview with Univision’s Primer Impacto:

My daughter’s killing was no accident. It was a moment of pure rage because she (refering to Saldívar) was about to get fired.

The concerned authorities finally concluded after deliberating for two hours. Hence, the 12-person jury committee convicted Yolanda Saldívar of first-degree murder.

According to the postmortem report, American singer Quintanilla was shot in the lower right shoulder, and her main artery was severed.

Before arriving at the hospital, Selena named Saldívar as her assailant. While she fled the room, her killer was following behind. Unfortunately, Quintanilla received no medical treatment on time and was pronounced dead on arrival.

Prime suspect Yolanda Saldívar was under control by the Police authorities after a nine-hour standoff. According to the Police, Yolanda was holding a gun to her head and denying planned murder before her safe arrest.

Also, the court found her guilty of first-degree murder, and she is facing a life sentence in prison.

Although the killer claimed the shooting was an accident and denied her planned murder, many of Selena’s close ones believe that Saldívar, as a fan, was possessive of her.

Likewise, Yolana Salvidar claimed to be Selena’s biggest fan and uprooted her life for the American singer. Not only that, but Quintanilla even called her mom.

Saldívar founded the Selena fan club, quitting her job as a nurse. She ran Selena’s two boutiques in Texas as well.

But many of Selena’s close ones, including her Father Abraham, revealed the dark side of the story and claimed that the woman was possessive of her. Selena was about to fire Saldívar when she found her stealing money.

If not dead, Quintanilla would be 49 years old. At 23, she was on a trajectory to change the music industry, but sadly a horrific halt inevitably tied up her story’s end. Pure Soul, Rest In Peace!
