James allegedly opened fire leaving two individuals dead and three others injured. Among those injured was his girlfriend Lily, whom Kelly told this was the end before the alleged shooting spree.
Furthermore, James returned to the campgrounds from the festival proper, where he allegedly took his handgun from his pickup truck, loaded it, and fired at Brandy Escamilla and Josilyn Ruiz.
The engaged couple died at the scene, and Kelly even shot August Morningstar, who suffered a bullet wound in his shoulder and is now in stable condition. Apart from that, James tried to fire at a Grant County Sheriff’s Office drone and later shot his girlfriend in the foot and upper leg.
Lily laid down on the ground multiple times, and James sat either on her or sat next to her and leaned over her. At one point, Lily started to walk north away from Kelly, turned around with her hands raised in the air, and walked back to her boyfriend.

James Kelly and Lily A. Luksich have been dating each other for quite a while now. However, there are no details about when they began their romance.
Both of their names came into the media prominence after the mass shooting in which both of them were injured. Lily was shot by Kelly, while Kelly was shot by the police officer.
Furthermore, James and Lily traveled to the music festival together. They set up a tent camp in the Gorge campground, and sometime in the evening, James ate a dose of mushrooms, and he and Lily walked over to the concert venue.
While the duo was at the concert venue, James started to feel the effects of the dose of mushrooms and began experiencing hallucinations.
Lily also told deputies that Kelly started to believe that the world was ending and he needed to return to his camp immediately with his girlfriend. After that, they moved to the campsite, and during that time, Kelly made multiple statements about the effect of this in the end.
When they arrived back at the camp, Kelly returned to his pickup truck and took his handgun from a locked box in the center console. He loaded a magazine into the handgun, chambered a cartridge, and stepped out from behind the driver’s door.

James Kelly is charged with two counts of first-degree murder, one count of first-degree assault, and one count of first-degree attack domestic violence.
Furthermore, Kelly was booked into Grant County Jail. Meanwhile, his motive remains unclear, and his next hearing is set for July 5, 2023.
Apart from that, his alleged injured girlfriend Lily is recovering in the hospital as she was injured in the shooting. Two bullets caused significant injuries to her foot, leg, pelvic bones and internal organs.
