Jamison Lafferty, a 14-year-old boy from Greenville, Michigan, was killed in a hit-and-run incident on 8 August 2023.
He was walking with two other friends on Wise Road east of W. County Line Road when a car struck them, and fled the scene.
Jamison’s two friends survived with non-life-threatening injuries, but Jamison tragically died at the scene.
The young boy had just celebrated his birthday on Friday and was about to start the eighth grade at Greenville Middle School.
He was a gifted athlete, a kind and respectful person, and a beloved family and community member. His parents, Alee and Justin Lafferty, and sister, Karlee, are left inconsolable and shattered by his tragic death.
According to the Michigan State Police’s Office, Jamison and his two pals were walking on Tuesday’s south side of Wise Road around 9:30 pm.
The trio reportedly headed to a nearby gas station to buy snacks. At the time, a dark-colored SUV traveling eastbound on Wise Road hit them from behind and fled the scene without stopping.
The police are still looking for the driver of the SUV, who is facing charges of leaving the crime scene and reckless driving, causing death.
Jamison has been described as a bright and cheerful young man with endless enthusiasm, a contagious smile, and a kind heart.
The neighborhood comes together to demand justice and a safer future while simultaneously grieving this tragic loss.

Greenville Community Rallied Behind The Lafferty Family
The Greenville community rallied behind the Lafferty family, who lost their beloved family member in the fatal hit-and-run incident.
The online meal train was organized by Amber Dakin, a Eureka Township resident and a family friend. More than 200 people have donated more than $15,000.
A nurse named Dakin, who knew Jamison’s family from the community, wanted to help them after a hit-and-run driver killed Jamison.
She said Jamison was a kind, respectful, and gifted kid with many friends. She asked people to help and respect the family’s privacy.
The superintendent of Greenville Public Schools said that extra support is being offered to the students and teachers who are grieving after Jamison’s death.
He asked people to pray for the family and the community and said they would help the family in a time of need.
Although Jamison Lafferty’s time in this world has been cut short, he left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him and touched many lives with his kindness and generosity.
