Magic Mushroom: Mushroom Poisoning Case Australia

The mushroom poisoning case in Australia is unrelated to Janet Yellen’s magic mushroom case.

Relating to Australia’s poisonous mushroom case, three people recently lost their lives after eating cooked mushrooms, purchased from a grocer and supermarket.

While on a totally unrelated case, Yellen, the US Treasury Secretary, unintentionally started a trend in China for a dish called Jian shou qing.

Jian shou qing, also known as “see hand blue,” incorporates magic mushrooms known for their hallucinogenic properties.

This trend started after Yellen was observed consuming these fungi during her visit to Beijing in July.

The dish features Lanmaoa asiatica mushrooms, portions of which exhibit a blue hue when sliced or bruised.

Dr. Peter Mortimer, a professor at the Kunming Institute of Botany, explained that these mushrooms are potentially poisonous due to their hallucinogenic effects.

However, the specific compounds responsible for these effects have not yet been identified by scientists.

Mortimer mentioned a friend who accidentally consumed these mushrooms and experienced hallucinations for three days.

Fortunately, Janet Yellen and her colleagues did not experience any such adverse effects, and instead, influenced everyone to try that particular dish.

Her China visit and dish choice led to widespread online circulation and swift sell-outs at various branches of the restaurant within hours.
