Joseph William “Jay” Monahan IV is appointed The PGA Tour’s fourth commissioner. He took on this role in January 2017.

The tour states that in Monahan’s absence, chief operating Officer Ron Price and executive vice president Tyler Dennis will oversee daily operations while he is away.
Regarding Monahan’s condition, no further information was made public. The policy board was informed during the course of a 35-minute phone call, according to Golf Channel, but no other information was provided beyond what was said in the statement.
Price and Dennis issued a joint statement that wished Jay a speedy recovery and expressed their condolences for him and his family during his absence.
Their statement further explained, “Our top priority is to support our players while continuing the ongoing efforts to lead the PGA Tour and golf’s future. We have a strong and knowledgeable leadership team in place.”
