Pena and his older and younger brothers, Austin and Carlos, developed a game they called “Big League.”

The “Big League” rules were simple: To get the point, you had to throw the ball hard against a concrete wall and cleanly field the quick bounce back.

You received 10 points and a spot on a minor league squad if you successfully recovered ten consecutive ground balls. You could move up a level, from short-season baseball to High-A, and so on, with the following ten grounders.

However, you would be demoted if you missed one. The first brother to advance to the major leagues was the winner.

Pena said they would play for hours and “catch 600 ground balls without even thinking about it.”

Pena said, “We were just having a good time. Austin, my older brother, was always the first to reach the major leagues. My younger brother would not even be signed, and I would be stuck in Double-A.”

Many sources claim that Vasiliqi Turlla, a track and field athlete and Pena had been dating for a very long period.
