A OneAmerica official confirmed Jerry Semler’s passing in an email sent late Monday.
“On behalf of the Semler family, it is with heavy hearts that we can confirm the passing of Jerry Semler earlier today,” the spokesman stated. “Morning will bring additional information.”
Semler, an Indianapolis native, began working at AUL—now OneAmerica Financial Partners—as a management trainee in 1959.
He progressed through the organization, eventually rising to the positions of president, chief operating officer, CEO, and board chairman before becoming president in 1980.
He most recently served as a trustee at Marian University, co-chairman of the Sagamore Institute for Policy Research, chairman of the Indiana Historical Society, and board member at Conner Prairie.
