First Lady Jill Biden recently had Mohs surgery to remove cancerous skin lesions. She had been fighting the illness for quite a while.
Reuters reported that the 71-year-old had cancerous skin lesions removed from her chest and face on Wednesday.
White House physician Kevin O’Connor said all cancerous tissues were removed, and a third lesion was removed from her left eyelid to be examined.
Accompanied by her husband, President Joe Biden, Jill spent more than eight hours for the outpatient procedure at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.
O’Connor stated that the small lesion in her skin was determined to be basal cell carcinoma, which does not tend to spread as other skin cancers such as melanoma.
He also confirmed the margins were clear of any residual cancer cells, and they do not anticipate any more procedures. They will monitor the area closely during its healing period.
Hence, following all the procedures and their success, the First Lady will surely be fine.
