John Indrizzi’s sudden death comes after Metricon boss Mario Baisin’s passing in May rocked the Australian building industry. His death also sent shockwaves across the country.

His death came only days before the Company entered crisis talks amid ongoing rumours that it was facing financial difficulties. However, it has continued to operate.

The passing of Baisin reminded people of his comments in a May 2020 podcast, where he revealed the challenges the industry, in general, and Metricon, in particular, had suffered for some time.

“It’s been a rollercoaster ride, to say the least,” the Metricon said at the time. He talked about the impact of Covid-19 all around the world.

The construction industry has been rocked by a series of collapses this year, with Tozer Construction Group recently being court-ordered to go into liquidation.

These firms have been battling soaring material and labour costs amid falling business, causing multiple companies to surrender and collapse.
