Paul Kent Assault case: Sports journalist Paul Kent has been arrested in May after he reportedly assaulted a woman because of a heated conversation at his home. 

Paul Kent is an Australian sports journalist and television personality who is best known for his work as a rugby league writer and commentator.

He is also a former rugby league footballer, who played for Parramatta in one first-grade match in 1989 as a halfback, being the 481st player for the club.

Following his retirement, Paul has worked as a journalist and currently works with The Daily Telegraph and co-hosts NRL 360 on Fox Sports with former player Braith Anasta.

Recently, the sports journalist has been arrested after he was believed to have assaulted a woman at his home. Following this news, people are interested to get more details on Paul Kent assault charges and arrest.

Well, the Daily Telegraph and Fox Sports rugby league journalist, Paul has been arrested on charges of domestic violence.

The police officials were called to a house in Lilyfield in Sydney’s inner west on the morning of 12th May 2023, after an incident involving a 33-year-old woman and a 52-year-old man, according to sources. 

The pair were both arrested for their involvement in the fight, with the lady subsequently released without any charges.

According to reports, Kent, who co-hosts the show NRL 360 with former NRL player Braith Anasta, was detained and charged with purposely choking a person without permission and common assault.

Kent will temporarily stop contributing to the Daily Telegraph and won’t be seen on Fox League in the upcoming weeks, according to a statement from Newscorp.

The statement said, “Paul Kent has been temporarily off of his responsibilities with Fox Sports and News Corp while he deals with this private matter.” Paul will appear in court again this week after being granted bail.

Kent, one of the NRL’s most opinionated and recognizable analysts, has been a consistent co-host of the NRL 360 shows since the program’s debut in 2013.

The Daily Telegraph reported that Paul was “on leave” since he was absent from the paper on Saturday. In place of Kent’s weekend article, a column by Brent Read was published.

Where Is Journalist Paul Kent Now?

Paul Kent has been released on bail on May 13 and he is currently living on his premises. However, it has been revealed that he has to appear in front of the court one time again following his assault charges.

Well, this has not been the first time when the journalist has been surrounded by controversies. For instance, Paul Kent left his job at the radio station Triple M in May 2022 after he allegedly had a different opinion about a situation involving fellow broadcaster Anthony Maroon that occurred on air.

Paul was requested to apologize for the incident where he and James Hooper publicly bullied Maroon. Kent submitted his resignation after refusing to apologize to the station.

Likewise, The Sydney Morning Herald reported in February 2023 that Kent and journalist Mike Meehall Wood, who remained critical of Kent, got into a fight at the Kayo season premiere.

Paul was then alluded to in the piece as “one of the resentful men in sports media.”
